LONGi selected for 81.66 MW solar portfolio by Faria Renewables in Greece

Chinese solar manufacturer LONGi Green Energy has been chosen to supply photovoltaic modules for two solar power plants with a combined capacity of 81.66 MW, developed by Greek independent power producer Faria Renewables. The projects are located in Greece’s Thessaly region.

The module supply contract covers the Athamas project near Almyros with a capacity of 45.51 MW and the Mykonos solar plant in the Farsala area with a capacity of 36.15 MW. Together, the portfolio will use 125,280 LONGi Hi-MO 9 back-contact modules.

Project scope and module specifications

LONGi will provide photovoltaic modules for both facilities under the selected supply arrangement. The combined deployment across the two sites totals 81.66 MW.

The Athamas and Mykonos plants are being developed by Faria Renewables as separate projects within the same portfolio. Both are situated in Thessaly, with Athamas near Almyros and Mykonos in the Farsala area.

Faria Renewables’ role across development and operations

Faria Renewables is responsible for the full project lifecycle for both solar facilities. The company acts as developer, EPC contractor, and future owner and operator once construction is completed.

This structure covers delivery through construction and subsequent operation for both projects, following their respective build schedules. The module supply is tied to the portfolio’s total capacity of 81.66 MW.

Construction timelines and grid connection plans

Construction of the Athamas project began in November 2025. Grid connection is expected by the end of July 2026.

Work on the Mykonos solar plant started in February 2026. Commissioning is scheduled for June 2027.

Athamas generation estimate and connection infrastructure

Athamas is described as the largest solar project to date for Faria Renewables. The plant will combine fixed-tilt and single-axis tracking systems.

The facility will connect to Greece’s transmission network via a dedicated 150 kV substation. Annual electricity generation is estimated at around 80 GWh.
