Coal fired power plant Matrai reopened its lignite coal mine. Matrai company spent 8MEUR for the preparation of the coal operation restart which stoped production in 2004.
The company constructed four coal supply bridges, transport systems 10km lenght as well as new electrical supply network in the mine. After the initial removal of surface layers the lignite coal production should start in 2018 confirmed company CEO Bernhardt Luschper.
Matrai Eromu plans the life cycle of the mine for next 50 years and output of several hundreds million tons of coal. Annual capacity of the mine is 9 mil tons on locations Matra and Buk in northern Hungary.
Company produces 15% of total Hungary electricity generation and last year achieved income of 327MEUR. The owners of the company are RWE-EnBW 74% and state company MVM 24%., transmits Serbia-energy.eu
