Hungary: HUPX electricity prices rise 27% in September 2025, trading volumes decline

The average price of electricity on the day-ahead market of the Hungarian energy exchange HUPX reached 101.93 euros per MWh in September 2025, marking a 27 percent increase compared to August, when the average baseload price stood at 80.51 euros per MWh. The average peak price on the HUPX day-ahead market amounted to 97.08 euros per MWh in September, which is 69 percent higher than in the previous month.

Traded volume on the day-ahead market totaled 2.21 million MWh, representing a 14 percent decrease compared to August and a 15.3 percent decline compared to September 2024, when it amounted to 2.61 million MWh. The average daily traded volume in September was 73,823 MWh.

On the intraday market, total traded volume reached 1,164,912 MWh in September 2025, down by 1 percent compared to the previous month. The average daily traded volume on the intraday market was 38,830 MWh. The average price for the hourly product stood at 101.03 euros per MWh in September, up by 37 percent compared to the previous month.
