The state-owned electricity utility of Bosnia and Herzegovina, EPBiH, has embarked on a significant investment initiative aimed at enhancing its renewable energy capabilities. The utility has announced a tender for the installation of rooftop solar systems across various facilities within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, marking a key step in its strategy to modernize energy infrastructure. This first phase of the project is estimated at approximately €750,000, excluding VAT.
This tender encompasses the deployment of photovoltaic systems on multiple company-owned buildings. Interested contractors have until May 15 to submit their bids, after which a selection process will commence. The project is designed as a single consolidated package rather than being segmented into separate lots, which is expected to streamline the procurement process.
The planned solar installations will vary in capacity from 25 kW to 240 kW, depending on specific site requirements. The contractor will be chosen based on the lowest offered price, incorporating an electronic auction stage as part of the evaluation process. This approach aims to ensure competitive pricing while facilitating the rapid expansion of solar capabilities.
Locations identified for these installations include operational units in Bihać, Jablanica, Mostar, Zenica, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Travnik, and Kakanj. These initiatives are aligned with EPBiH’s broader objectives of enhancing energy efficiency and expanding its renewable generation capacity, reflecting a commitment to sustainable energy practices.
Furthermore, this project is part of EPBiH’s comprehensive strategy to modernize its operational framework and increase internal power production from renewable sources.
