EBRD stands ready to back Serbia’s real economy

Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Thomas Mirow said Thursday, during the talks with Deputy Prime Minister Verica Kalanovic, that this financial institution stands ready to continue supporting Serbia, its real economy in particular.

In the recent period, the assistance was offered mostly to infrastructure projects and public companies. In the future, the EBRD would like to shift its focus, and assist the private sector, especially small and medium sized companies, Mirow said.

During the meeting, Mirow and the deputy prime minister discussed the ways in which the cooperation between Serbia and the EBRD could be improved even further.

Kalanovic stressed that the sector of small and medium sized companies must be strengthened, the deputy prime minister’s cabinet released.
