Croatia: Wind farm Ljubac to be commissioned by Petrol

In late 2019, Petrol signed an agreement for the construction of Ljubac wind farm with German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group. Slovenian energy group Petrol said that it is planning to commission its 30 MW wind farm Ljubac in Croatia in April 2021.

Construction of the plant started this spring. It is located in Knin municipality in southern Croatia and will have nine wind turbines. Its estimated annual electricity generation is 96 GWh, enough to meet the demand of around 20,000 households.

Head of Petrol’s renewable energy division Suvad Bajric said that this would be the first wind project developed without any financial support for electricity generation from renewable sources. He added that Petrol Group currently has some 200 MW in solar and wind power under development.
