Croatian electricity market operator HROTE announced that it will start trading electricity produced from renewable sources (RES) on the local power exchange CROPEX as of 1 January 2017.
In accordance with the law on renewable energy, which was adopted last September by the Croatian Parliament, HROTE will act as a balance responsible party for renewable energy projects within the feed-in scheme and will also be involved in renewable energy trading on CROPEX in 2017, which is expected to significantly increase the liquidity of the local power exchange that launched in February 2016.
According to the current feed-in tariff acheme, electricity suppliers in Croatia are obliged to purchase electricity produced from renewable sources from HROTE at regulated prices, transmits Serbia-energy.eu
