Croatia, HEP will develop 18 solar power plants with combined installed capacity of 168 MW

Croatian state-owned power utility HEP said that it will develop 18 solar power plants with combined installed capacity of 168 MW under the contracts signed with municipal governments. The total values of these contracts is around 144 million euros.

In 2021, HEP signed agreements on the construction of 7 solar power plants with combined installed capacity of 60 MW with the municipalities of Vrpolje, Lovinac, Orle, Zdenci, Satnica Djakovacka and Trpinja, as well as with the town of Valpovo. The investment in these seven facilities amounts to over 50 million euros.

The contracts for the remaining eleven solar power plants were signed during 2019 and 2020.

HEP CEO Frane Barbaric said that with this form of cooperation, the company will cover more of half of the country as these 18 projects will be carried out in 12 different counties. HEP’s development strategy targets some 350 MW in solar capacity by 2030. Almost half of that, namely 168 MW, will be built based on these agreements with municipalities and towns.

Since 2019, HEP has completed or is about to finish the construction of seven solar power plants with combined capacity of 23 MW, an investment worth some 26 million euros.
