Croatia, E.ON Solar and Valamar have agreed the construction of a total of 68 small-scale solar power plants

E.ON Solar and one the largest players in Croatia’s tourism sector Valamar have agreed the construction of a total of 68 small-scale solar power plants with combined installed capacity of 3.5 MW and expected annual electricity generation of 4,500 GWh.

A member of Valamar’s Management Board Ivana Budin Arhanic said that the company has been investing in renewable energy sources for years already, and currently produce about six % of its consumed electricity. Over the past four years, Valamar has invested a total of 53 million euros in energy efficiency projects. The company also exclusively buys green energy for its consumption. The goal is that by 2025, the company will cover 20 % of its electricity consumption from its own sources.

The solar facilities will be built under the BOT (Build Operate Transfer) model, so that at first the facilities are owned by E.ON, until the sale of energy pays them off, after which they becomes the property of Valamar.

E.ON Croatia has implemented or is implementing about 50 solar projects across the country for business users with a total installed capacity of 40 MW solar power plants, and they also have a large number of households in their portfolio.

Last week, Croatian food producer Zito Group and E.ON Solar have signed a contract for the construction of a 2 MW solar power plant within the company’s vegetable oil factory in Cepin.
