Croatia: Construction of SPP Promina approved

The construction of 150 MW solar power plant Promina in Sibenik-Knin County, developed by Acciona Energia was approved by Croatian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, by issuing environmental permit for the project.

The plant will be located on the Miljevacki plateau and estimated annual electricity generation is 274 GWh. It will be divided into two fields – Promina South (90 MW, stretches over 162 hectares) and Promina North (60 MW, 122 hectares). When built, it will be the largest solar power plant in Croatia, while the investment is estimated to around 100 million euros.

The investor has already signed an agreement on the connection to network with electricity transmission system operator HOPS. Within the project, a construction of 400 kV substation is envisages, which will be connected to the existing 400 kV transmission line Konjsko-RHE Velebit. Acciona Energia has already completed one wind farm project in Croatia. In 2013, it has commissioned 30 MW Jelinak wind farm. The start of the construction of Promina solar power plant is expected in 2023, when location and building permits are obtained. The company is also involved in the projects for the construction of two wind farms Opor and Boraja with combined installed capacity of 80 MW.
