Croatia: 1,001 GWh of electricity produced in August

According to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics, net electricity production in Croatia in August 2018 amounted to 1,001 GWh, which is 11.3 % more than in the same month last year, when the production amounted to 899 GWh.

During August, 487 GWh of electricity or 48.7 % was produced in hydropower plants, 368 GWh or 36.8 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 88 GWh or 8.8 % of total produced electricity. During this period, Croatia imported 1,118 GWh of electricity, which is slightly lower compared to last August (1,142 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 395 GWh, compared to 316 GWh in the same month last year.

Regarding hydrocarbons production, Croatia produced 104 million cubic meters of natural gas in August 2018, which is 18.8 % less than in the same month last year. Natural gas imports stood at 131 million cubic meters, 19.1 % less than in August 2017. Crude oil production stood at 57,000 tons, slightly less than in August last year, while crude oil imports stood at 488,000 tons. Production of petroleum products stood at 375,000 tons in August 2018, which is 10.3 % higher compared to August 2017.
