Bosnia and Herzegovina: Electricity prices in Republic of Srpska set to increase by up to 8.5% starting January 1

The Energy Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Srpska (RERS) has approved a request from the public supplier ERS to increase electricity prices by 5 to 8.5%, depending on consumption levels.

RERS Secretary Aleksandar Jegodic confirmed that, on average, electricity prices for households will rise by 7.9% starting on January 1st. The commission also approved ERS’s energy procurement price for public supply at approximately 0.04 euros per kWh, along with the requested tariff rates, which include network fees that remain unchanged.

As per the Electricity Law, RERS did not set the energy procurement costs or tariff rates, as this is not within its authority. Its role was to verify that the procurement process for public supply met legal requirements and that the proposed tariff rates aligned with the electricity procurement price, as stated in the Commission’s announcement.

For small consumers in the “other consumption” category (2nd and 3rd tariff groups), whose contracted power is not determined by metering, the total bill will remain unchanged. The Commission did not make any decisions regarding electricity price increases for businesses, as it does not have authority over their pricing.
