Verbund Green Power has announced a significant expansion of its wind energy initiatives in Europe through a new long-term collaboration with the Nordex Group. This partnership aims to facilitate the addition of up to 700 MW of new onshore wind capacity by the end of the decade, marking a substantial increase in Verbund’s renewable energy portfolio.
The agreement specifies that Nordex is set to supply as many as 105 wind turbines for projects in six key markets: Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, Romania, and Albania. This framework will remain active until 2030, allowing for adaptability as projects progress from initial development stages to full execution.
If the planned capacity is fully implemented, it could account for approximately half of Verbund Green Power’s existing wind development pipeline. However, the realization of this capacity is contingent upon various factors including project approvals and the finalization of commercial agreements and contractual terms.
Currently, Verbund Green Power operates over 1.2 GW of renewable generation capacity throughout Europe. The company continues to push forward with several ongoing construction projects while also developing a comprehensive pipeline aimed at bolstering growth in wind energy and other clean technologies.
