Serbia: Japan interested in partnership with Serbia regarding infrastructure projects

Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Akira Imamura said that Japan is an energy-efficient country and that it will gladly share its experiences and technologies with Serbia. He added that Japan is interested in being a partner in the planned infrastructure projects in Serbia.

Ambassador Imamura talked with the Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali about the relations between the two countries and the possibilities of further cooperation, the Serbian Government said in a statement. They highlighted the planned construction of the pump-storage hydropower plant Bistrica, a strategic energy project, as one of the most important projects on which Serbia and Japan could cooperate.

Minister Mali noted that energy is a sector where Japan is Serbia’s partner and added that each investment from that country is precious and welcome, as it entails the arrival of the latest technology. Last month, the delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) expressed an interest in cooperating with Serbia on the new project for the construction of HPP Bistrica. Serbian

Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic said that a special project team had been formed and that, together with representatives of state-owned EPS, the preparation of the technical documentation would continue.
