Romania, Romgaz will double the price of natural gas it supplies to ELCEN

Romanian natural gas producer Romgaz will double the price of natural gas it supplies to Bucharest-based thermal energy producer ELCEN. This will increase ELCEN’s production cost by some 60 %, but also lead to an increasing in heating prices for the population by 20 %.

The new price will be valid for 2022 gas year starting on 1 October. The price agreed between the two companies is 30.5 euros/MWh. As the price of natural gas is accounted for roughly 70 % of ELCEN’s production costs, it will rise by about 60 %.
