Dutch-based solar developer Photon Energy announced that it has started the construction of its sixth solar power plant in Romania, which will have an installed capacity of 4.8 MW.
Located near Teius, Alba County, stretching over 10 hectares of greenfield land, some 8,700 high- efficiency bifacial solar modules mounted on single -axis trackers will deliver around 7.1 GWh of electricity per year, which will be sold on the energy market on a merchant basis, without any state subsidy support or a power purchase agreements. The new power plant should be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Photon Energy CEO Georg Hotar said that the company continues breaking ground in Romania, one of our its CEE markets. The power plant in Teius marks another important step in the company’s efforts to commission a total capacity of around 32 MW in Romania by the end of 2022. These new assets alone will expand Photon Energy’s portfolio to over 120 MW by the end of the year.
Upon the commissioning of this plant, Photon Energy will own and operate 94 solar power plants with a combined generation capacity of 113 MW in its portfolio. A combined 97 MW will be selling subsidy-free clean electricity directly on the energy market.
Currently, the company is developing solar projects in Romania with a total capacity of 235.4 MW, with 21.2 MW under construction and 12.0 MW at a ready-to-build stage of development.
