Montenegro: Jugopetrol launches 9 million euro project to modernize Bar oil terminal and reduce emissions

Jugopetrol has announced the commencement of preparatory works for the reconstruction of its oil derivatives storage terminal in Bar, Montenegro, with an estimated investment of 9 million euros. This project aims to reduce carbon dioxide and gasoline vapor emissions, marking a significant step toward a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future. The company highlighted that this initiative underscores its commitment to environmental protection and embracing innovations within Montenegro’s energy sector.

The reconstruction will involve the installation of a vapor recovery unit using advanced French technology, already proven effective across Europe and the region. Jugopetrol’s CEO, Vasilis Panagopoulos, stated that the project will include the construction of a new bottom-loading facility for tanker trucks with three loading points, enabling faster and more efficient filling. This initiative not only promotes energy efficiency and sustainability but also exemplifies socially responsible and effective business practices.

Plans also include modernizing the pump station with the installation of ten new pumps, significantly enhancing filling efficiency and meeting peak demand. A key component of the project is the installation of the vapor recovery unit, which will capture and treat gasoline vapors during the distribution process, reducing the ecological footprint and improving air quality in the region. Through these technological advancements, Jugopetrol aims to provide more efficient services and contribute to a cleaner environment across Montenegro.
