The Višegrad hydropower plant, operated by the state-owned ERS “Hidroelektrane na Drini,” has reported a total electricity generation of 781.8 GWh for the year 2025. This marks a significant increase from the 733 GWh produced in 2024, showcasing the facility’s improved operational performance and favorable hydrological conditions throughout the year.
In December 2025, the plant generated 88.34 GWh, which represents an 8.8% decrease from November’s output of 96.83 GWh. However, this figure remains notably higher than the 73.18 GWh recorded in December 2024, indicating resilience despite the month-on-month decline.
Commissioned in 1989, the Višegrad hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 315 MW, comprising three units of 105 MW each. The facility typically averages around 1,010 GWh in annual electricity generation, with its peak output reaching 1,283.05 GWh in 2010.
This upward trend in annual production reflects not only effective management practices but also highlights the strategic importance of hydropower within Bosnia and Herzegovina’s energy landscape as it continues to adapt to changing environmental conditions and market demands.
