A preliminary network development plan from 2024 to 2028 prepared and forwarded for consultation by Greek distribution network operator DEDDIE/HEDNO outlines a significant upgrade of the distribution network through 176 projects budgeted at just under 3 billion euros.
The plan, a comprehensive strategy worth 2.99 billion euros, is aimed at upgrading and modernizing the electricity distribution network by developing new networks, reinforcing existing networks, connecting new users, as well as installing equipment such as telemetry systems and other applications.
Twenty of the five-year plan’s 176 projects were completed this year, 57 are at the design stage and have yet to be licensed, 46 are undergoing development, and 42 are new projects not included in older development plans.
DEDDIE/HEDNO plans to spend 578.38 million euros on 87 projects to reinforce the network. These include 61 medium-voltage and high-voltage substations, 3 underground transmission lines, one overhead transmission line, as well as 21 subsea medium-voltage cables.
In addition, the plan includes 35 projects to modernize the network. These projects are budgeted at 559 million euros.
Furthermore, 539.3 million euros in investments are planned for network projects already being developed to connect new users – both consumers and producers – while a sum of 877 million euros is planned to be invested on 18 projects concerning the network’s digitization, energypress.eu reports.
