Greece: Energy storage tender to be published in Q2

The Greek first battery energy storage tender will be published in the second quarter of the year and will most likely take place in June.

It would be the first of two tenders through which the state will seek to allocate around 200 million euros in funding from Greece’s Recovery and Resilience Facility. The goal is to award around 900 MW to standalone battery storage schemes through two public calls of 450 MW each.

The Ministry of Energy is working to complete all details related to the initial tender by mid-April, with the technical specifications expected to include a capacity limit of 100 MW for individual projects. Reportedly, batteries providing two to four hours of storage, linked to renewable power plants will be given priority. The second tender should be held few months after the first.
