In December 2025, the Croatian energy exchange (CROPEX) recorded a total electricity trading volume of 1,087,877 MWh, marking an 8% decline from October. This volume comprised 880,731.5 MWh in the day-ahead market and 207,145.5 MWh in the intraday market. Notably, this figure reflects a 3.2% increase compared to December 2024, indicating a year-on-year growth despite the recent monthly decrease.

The average daily base price for the day-ahead market in December was reported at €113.1/MWh, which is 4.4% lower than November’s average. The average euro-peak price dropped to €125.37/MWh, down by 6% from the previous month. Meanwhile, prices on the intraday market averaged €112.9/MWh, reflecting a 5.2% decrease compared to November. The average daily traded volume in the day-ahead market stood at 28,410.7 MWh, showcasing consistent trading activity.

CROPEX was established on 11 March 2016, in partnership with Nord Pool, which is recognized as Europe’s leading electricity exchange. The platform is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). The intraday market commenced operations in April 2017. A significant milestone occurred on 19 June 2018, when CROPEX’s day-ahead market successfully coupled with the MRC markets across the Croatian–Slovenian border, following collaborative efforts between Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges.
