Croatia: Interenergo inaugurates a 6.25 MW solar power plant

 

Slovenian company Interenergo has completed the Bukovica solar power plant, with 6.25 MW in peak capacity. It is among the five largest operating ground-based photovoltaic facilities in Croatia. The company operates a wind farm at the same location and is also developing new solar projects in Croatia.

The solar power plant and the wind park, built in 2020, are in a degraded area in the municipality of Jasenice in northern Dalmatia. The wind and solar power plants will generate enough electricity to cover the needs of 12,000 households.

“Long-term and strategic planning allowed us, with the help of power plants, not only to reuse the degraded area and give it new meaning but also to harness the synergy of two key renewable resources in one location. By developing well-thought-out projects, we strengthen the region’s development and, with the help of the various technological solutions available to us, accelerate the energy transition,” the managing director of Interenergo Blaž Šterk said at the launch ceremony.

Interenergo intends to build another solar power plant near Zadar with twice the capacity of Bukovica.

According to the company, despite the difficult terrain and non-ideal weather conditions, it finished the project within 12 months with numerous subcontractors and with the support of the Municipality of Jasenice, Balkan Greene Energy News reports.
