Croatia: Government unveils seventh package of measures to combat rising prices and support vulnerable citizens

The Croatian Government has introduced its seventh package of measures designed to shield households and businesses from escalating prices, with a strong emphasis on regulating energy costs. This new package, valued at 248 million euros, aims to keep energy prices manageable and provide targeted support to pensioners and veterans.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković highlighted the package’s dual priorities: maintaining affordable energy and safeguarding the most vulnerable members of society. With EU-wide withdrawal of energy support, electricity prices are expected to increase by 10% over the next six months—split into a 6.5% rise in November and a further increase at the start of 2025. Despite the government’s efforts, gas prices will also see a 10% rise over the same period. Currently, the market price for gas stands at 680 euros, but government measures have reduced it to 595 euros.
