Croatia, Acciona Energia will build two wind farms

Spanish renewables developer Acciona Energia said that it will build two wind farms in Croatia with combined installed capacity of 72 MW, an investment worth some 100 million euros.

The statement from the company said that the investment is linked to 12-year contract for difference (CfD) signed with the Croatian energy market regulator HROTE through a tender and is a part of new Croatia’s support scheme for renewables, approved by the European Commission.

The two wind farms will consist of a total of 16 Nordex wind turbines, with power output of 4.5 S MW each, with an estimated annual electricity generation of 203 GWh, enough to cover the demand of some 60,000 households, also reducing CO2 emissions by 135,000 tons per year. The two wind farms should be commissioned in 2024.

The two wind farms in question are 27 MW Opor and 45 MW Boraja II, located in the Split-Dalmatia and Sibenik-Knin counties.

Since 2013, Acciona Energia operates 30 MW wind farm Jelinak in the Split-Dalmatia county. The new investments will contribute to the company’s goal of achieving a renewable portfolio of 20 GW by 2025.
