Croatia: 620,583 MWh traded on CROPEX in January

A total volume of 620,583 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX in January 2020, which is 34 % more than in December 2019, of which 599,376.9 MWh on the day-ahead market and 21,206.1 MWh on the intraday market. Traded volume in January 2020 was 30.3 % higher compared to the same month last year. Average daily base price on day-ahead market in January amounted to 51.32 euros/MWh, which is 28 % higher than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 57.92 euros/MWh, 22.4 % higer compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 40.19 euros/MWh (- 11.4 %). There are 20 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market, twelve of which have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in January amounted to 19,334.7 MWh. CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June last year, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
