Bulgaria’s only nuclear power plant, Kozloduy, announced that Unit 6 will undergo its annual maintenance shutdown from October 25 to December 1.
According to the plant’s management, all planned work is fully funded and will be carried out by qualified personnel, ensuring the maintenance process meets the highest technical standards. During this period, systems and equipment will receive comprehensive preventive servicing aimed at maintaining the unit’s operational safety and long-term reliability.
As part of the scheduled activities, new nuclear fuel will be loaded into the reactor to begin the 31st fuel cycle. The maintenance program also includes measures that support the long-term operation of the plant’s units, in line with Bulgaria’s broader strategy for extending the facility’s lifespan.
Unit 6 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant continues to operate according to Bulgaria’s national electricity generation plan. The plant emphasized that such annual maintenance work is a routine part of safety procedures designed to ensure continuous and secure electricity production for the national grid.
