The municipality of Blagoevgrad announced that it has awarded a contract worth some 13.7 million euros for the construction of combined heat and power plant (CHPP) as well as an anaerobic composting installation for communal waste to a consortium of local companies.
The tender was launched last August and it attracted two offers. The winning consortium is led by local company Balkanika Energy, which holds 60 % stake. The contract will be partially financed through the EU’s Operational Program Environment 2014-2020.
