Serbia: TENT A launches first small-scale solar power plant to boost energy efficiency and sustainability

After completing initial testing, the small-scale solar power plant at the Nikola Tesla A thermal power plant (TENT A) is now entering trial operation. The solar panels have been installed on the roofs of various external buildings at TENT A and TENT Railway Transport, including warehouses for the temporary storage of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, the remote control center, and the storage facility for machine equipment and spare parts.

Construction of the solar power plant began at the end of June, with MT Komeks serving as the main contractor, alongside several local subcontractors. This marks the first photovoltaic power plant of its kind built within the EPS (Electric Power Industry of Serbia) network.

With an installed capacity of 948 kW, the solar plant is expected to generate over 1 GWh of electricity annually. The energy produced will be used to cover part of the plant’s own consumption, providing clean energy and reducing environmental impact. This initiative will also enhance the energy efficiency of the TENT A complex.
