The preparatory works for the construction of the wind farm Kostolac are in progress and the installation of wind generators is expected during the summer, according to the Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic.
She has talked to representatives of Siemens Energy Serbia and EPS about the progress of the realization of the project of the Kostolac wind farm and emphasized that it is necessary to follow the set dynamics for that wind farm to be built within the deadlines and connected to the network in the shortest amount of time possible.
According to her, the wind farm will have 20 wind turbines, which will supply around 30,000 households with electrical energy and be the first production capacity of Elektroprivreda Srbije from renewable energy sources, which would secure a new 66 MW of green energy to the energy system, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.
The minister said that Serbia was in the energy transition process and that, in the strategic documents, it had determined that it would be getting 45% of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030.
– By the end of the decade, through investments of the public and private sectors, we plan to secure a total of 3.4 GW of green energy, and EPS needs to continue being part of this process – said Djedovic Handanovic.
The construction of the Wind Farm Kostolac is financed with the funds of the Western Balkans Investment Framework of EUR 30 million and a grant and a loan from KfW of EUR 81.8 million, whereas the Government of Serbia, that is, EPS, is to contribute EUR 32.2 million.
The agreement on the supply of the wind generators, towers, substations and switchgear was signed in 2022 with the consortium of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy A/S Denmark and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Belgrade, Ekapija reports.
