ContourGlobal Secures €43.8 Million for Solar Portfolio in Greece

ContourGlobal has successfully arranged a financing package amounting to €43.8 million from Eurobank to facilitate the acquisition of solar energy assets in Greece. This refinancing is aimed at covering the costs associated with a portfolio acquisition that was completed recently, underscoring the company’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint in the region.

The acquired portfolio consists of 26 solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 36.7 MW, strategically located across various regions, including the Peloponnese and northern Greece. The assets are organized through seven special purpose vehicles (SPVs), which were established following a restructuring process designed to simplify the financial framework surrounding these projects.

Prior to this refinancing, the solar portfolio was supported by a complex financing structure that involved multiple loans at both the asset and entity levels. Eurobank’s consolidation of these arrangements into a more streamlined lending framework not only reduces the number of financial facilities but also enhances overall efficiency and manageability of the project.

The solar plants, which have been operational since their commissioning between 2011 and 2022, benefit from regulated support mechanisms such as feed-in tariffs and feed-in premiums. These schemes provide stable revenue streams, effectively mitigating risks associated with fluctuations in wholesale electricity prices.

This acquisition marks ContourGlobal’s entry into the Greek renewable energy market, which occurred in late 2025. The transaction also includes battery storage assets, indicating a strategic push into Greece’s expanding clean energy sector.
