Bulgarian caretaker Prime Minister Galab Donev met with representatives of the management of Lukoil, which operates the country’s largest refinery in Burgas.
Lukoil gave assurances that domestic fuel consumption is ensured and pledged to continue paying the advance tax on surplus profits, which is used for social spending in Bulgaria.
The process of technological preparation of the refinery for the diversification of crude oil supplies was also discussed. Lukoil intends to start working with non-Russian oil as early as March. In this context, PM Donev emphasized the importance of the construction of the Alexandroupoli-Burgas oil pipeline, which will enhance the security of supplies and ensure alternative oil sources for the refinery.
