Bulgaria: Solar energy covers one-fifth of the electricity production

Solar power accounts for nearly 20% of the electricity currently produced in Bulgaria, while the total production from renewable energy sources is around one-third, according to data provided by the Electricity System Operator and the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange, BNR reported.

Even though one unit of Kozloduy NPP is shut down for scheduled maintenance, the plant produces about 40% of the country’s electricity. The remaining amounts are shared more or less equally between the thermal and hydropower plants.
