Three contracts were signed for various repair works during the upcoming regular annual maintenance of its two units. Bulgarian sole nuclear power plant Kozloduy’s contracct is worth a combined 3.7 million euros.
The statement from the plant said that the largest contract is related to works of the units’ control systems. It was signed with local company Atomenergoremont and is worth around 1.6 million euros.
The second contract, worth 1.3 million euros, is related to works on the units’ electrical system and is signed with a consortium consisting of Montazhi-Co, KMC and Atomstroy. The third contract, envisages thermal insulation works worth some 800,000 euros and is signed woth local company Staykova-Borisov Izopesht.
Last week, NPP Kozloduy announced that it has signed a 14.5 million euros contract for upgrade of the neutron flux control systems of both units with Russian Rusatom Service, part of state-owned nuclear energy company Rosatom. The planned upgrade of the neutron flux control systems is related to NPP Kozloduy’s project for increasing the operating capacity of its two units to 104 %.
Originally, NPP Kozloduy had six reactors, but four older 440 MW reactors were shut down in 2007 due to nuclear safety concern of the European Union. The plant currently operates two Soviet-built 1,000 MW reactors, unit 5 and unit 6 which were commissioned in 1987 and 1991 respectively.
