Greece: Macquarie to buy 50 % of Enel’s renewables subsidiary

Enel agreed to sell a 50 % stake in its renewable energy subsidiary in Greece for 345 million euros. The two companies signed a deal under which the Macquarie Green Investment Group Renewable Energy Fund 2 will buy the 50% stake in Enel Green Power Hellas. The transaction values 100% of Enel Green Power Hellas at around 980 million euros.

The Greek subsidiary’s portfolio consists of 59 power plants with an installed capacity of 482 MW in wind, solar and hydropower. It is currently building six solar power facilities totalling 84 MW and developing wind and solar projects.

Enel said that this divestment will generate a positive impact of about 390 million euros on its 2023 EBITDA. The closing of the transaction is scheduled for the last quarter, following the approval by antitrust authorities.
