Albania: Electricity production reached 7 TWh in 2022

 

Electricity production in Albania in 2022 amounted to 7,002 GWh, which is 22% lower compared to 2021 (8,963 GWh).

Albanian electricity exports decreased in 2022 to 2,100 GWh, compared to 2,800 GWh in 2021, while electricity imports rose to 3,044 GWh from 2,253 GWh in the previous year.

Hydropower plants operated by state-owned power utility KESH generated 3,850 GWh of electricity in 2022, which is 4.5% lower compared to the previous year.

Solar power plants generated a total of 5.1 GWh, a 57 % drop year–on–year. Albanian electricity consumption dropped by 5.8 % in 2022, reaching 7,900 GWh.
