Serbia’s state-owned power utility, EPS, has launched an assessment to explore the feasibility of integrating hydrogen production and storage within its energy infrastructure. According to General Director Dusan Zivkovic, the study will evaluate the company’s capabilities, identify suitable locations, and establish a roadmap for incorporating hydrogen technology. Key goals include improving energy storage, reducing fossil fuel reliance, increasing energy efficiency, and optimizing the energy balance by integrating renewable energy sources.

Hydrogen is seen as a crucial element for Serbia’s energy transition, with EPS aiming to help the country move toward a hydrogen-powered future. Zivkovic also emphasized the importance of maintaining Serbia’s energy stability during this transition. EPS, as the largest energy company in the region, will play a vital role in ensuring long-term energy security for Serbia and neighboring countries.
