Romania: Nucelarelectrica secured a 145 million loan from EIB

Nuclearelectrica, the operator of nuclear power plant Cernavoda, signed a contract to borrow 145 million euros from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The loan will finance the construction of a tritium removal facility at the Cernavoda NPP, Nuclearelectrica said in a filing with the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Nuclearelectrica will repay the loan in equal semi-annual instalments with a grace period of four years for the payment of principal instalments.

In June, Nuclearelectrica signed a contract with Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Corporation (KHNP) for the construction of a tritium removal facility worth 181.7 million euros at the Cernavoda NPP. The unit will be will be the world’s third and Europe’s first tritium removal facility.
