Romania, Hidroelectrica has signed the contract for the modernization of the 110 kV substations

The largest Romanian electricity producer Hidroelectrica has signed the contract for the modernization of the 110 kV substations at HPP Strejesti, HPP Arcesti, HPP Slatina and HPP Lotru Ciunget, located on the rivers Olt and Lotru. The works, initially estimated at 1.7 million euros without VAT, were awarded to Electromontaj Carpati, at a value of around 1.5 million euros without VAT, after a public procurement procedure in which six participants submitted bids.

The works will be performed in a period of 18 months and consist in replacing the primary and secondary equipment with state-of-the-art technical and computer equipment, which would allow both local and remote control.

Hidroelectrica’s CEO Bogdan Badea said that the company continues to modernize the 110 kV substations, with the intention to introduce as many of the capacities as possible in a new operational cycle. It has a great responsibility in ensuring the security of the national energy system, being the company most often used to balance electricity consumption with production in the national market. Step by step, Hidroelectrica proceeds to replace all obsolete equipment and introduce new technologies that allow the automation of as many processes as possible.

Hidroelectrica operates 209 hydropower plants, with a total installed capacity of 6,482 MW. As of this year, it also operates Crucea wind farm, with an installed capacity of 108 MW.
