Romania: Eurowind Energy advances Pecineaga wind farm project

Danish renewables developer Eurowind Energy has successfully completed the first phase of its 48 MW Pecineaga wind farm project in Constanta County, Romania. The project is set to be operational by 2025 and will generate green energy sufficient for approximately 48,000 households.

In this initial phase, Eurowind Energy has installed 4 out of 8 foundations for Siemens Gamesa SG 6.6-170 wind turbines, which are the largest wind turbines in Romania. Additionally, essential infrastructure has been constructed, including access roads for logistics, a medium voltage system for efficient energy distribution, and preparations for connecting the wind farm to the electricity network. The first wind turbine is scheduled for installation in October, and the completed wind farm is expected to produce around 176,000 MWh of electricity annually.

In April, Eurowind Energy secured a €65.33 million credit facility for the Pecineaga wind farm’s development. Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) and Erste Group Bank are jointly financing this investment, each contributing €32.66 million. The loan, which covers 70% of the project’s total development costs, will mature at the end of 2040. Additionally, the banks are providing an €18 million package, including a VAT facility and other supportive financial products for the Pecineaga project.
