North Macedonia, Electricity consumption in May 2022 amounted to 544,181 MWh

Total electricity consumption in North Macedonia in May 2022 amounted to 544,181 MWh, natural gas consumption amounted to 3.8 million cubic meters, coal consumption reached 470,502 tons, while the consumption of petroleum products stood at 98,497 tons.

According to the data from State Statistical Office, 75.7 % of the consumed electricity in May was covered by domestic production, while 97.5 % of the total coal consumption was used for electricity production.

Total net production of electricity in Macedonia in May 2022 stood at 383,553 MWh, which is by 45 % higher compared to the same month last year. 233,960 MWh or 61 % was produced at thermal power plants (+ 132 % compared to May 2021), 137,068 MWh or 35.7 % was produced at hydropower plants (+ 10.1 %) and 5,364 MWh or 1.4 % was produced by Bogdanci wind farm.

Production at biogas power plants reached 3,780 MWh, while solar power plants produced 3,135 MWh of electricity in May.
