Hungary: HUPX day-ahead power prices surge 22% in July 2025

In July 2025, the average price of electricity on the day-ahead market of the Hungarian energy exchange (HUPX) was 102.56 euros/MWh, marking a 22% increase compared to June’s average baseload price of 84.1 euros/MWh. The average HUPX day-ahead peak price reached 86.36 euros/MWh, up by 63% from the previous month.

Day-ahead market trading volume totaled 2.71 million MWh, which is 5% lower than in June and 6.9% below the 2.91 million MWh recorded in July 2024. The average daily traded volume for the month was 87,326 MWh.

On the intraday market, total traded volume reached 1,316,062 MWh in July 2025, representing a 36% increase compared to the previous month. The average daily traded volume stood at 42,454 MWh. The average price for the hourly product on the intraday market was 97.15 euros/MWh, which is 25% higher compared to June.
