Greece: Gas supply deal for Mytilineos Group and Gazprom

A long-term contract on the supply of natural gas was signed between Greek Mytilineos Group and Gazprom Export, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Russian gas company Gazprom.

Director General of Gazprom Export Elena Murmistrova said after the signing that the cooperation between Gazprom Export and Mytilineos is proof of the demand for Russian gas in the Greek market, and it will help further strengthen the interaction between the two countries in the energy sector.

CEO of Mytilineos Group Evangelos Mytilineos said that this long-term contract will enhance the competitiveness of Mytilineos in the region’s gas market and will make a substantial contribution to maximizing the efficiency of its industrial and power assets.

The contract is valid between 2020 and 2030, but gas volumes to be delivered Greece were not disclosed. The cooperation between the two companies started in 2017 based on short-term contracts.

Greek natural gas consumption amounted to approximately 5 billion cubic meters in 2018.
