Greece, Cero selected contractors for its 100 MW solar project

Cero Generation, a solar developer within Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG), has selected US company Ameresco and Greek Sunel Group as contractors for its 100 MW Delfini solar project in Eastern Macedonia.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract will be carried out by a joint venture between the two companies – Ameresco Sunel Energy, which will install the solar power plant in Protosani municipality. Construction works have already been launched and are expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2023.

Once in operation, the solar plant will operate under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Swiss renewable power producer Axpo Holding, which makes it one of the first solar developments in Greece with a private power off-take deal in place.

Cero Generation currently has some 9 GW of solar projects under development in its European portfolio. The Delfini project will further expand its foothold in the Greek market and enhance its plans for extensive growth in the country. Additionally, solar generation will support Greece’s goal of making renewables account for 70 % of its total electricity consumption by 2030.
