Bulgaria: United Group to invest 120 million euros in renewable energy projects

Victoriya Boklag, CEO of United Group, a telecommunications and media company focusing on southeastern Europe, announced the company’s plans to invest an initial 120 million euros in solar and wind energy projects in Bulgaria to support its local operations.

Boklag outlined the company’s plans, which include three solar power projects—one of which is already operational—and a large wind farm. The combined output of these renewable energy projects is expected to reach 310 GWh of electricity per year. By 2027, these projects will cover 160% of United Group’s electricity requirements in Bulgaria and meet 65% of the company’s total electricity demand.

In September 2024, Vivacom, United Group’s Bulgarian subsidiary, launched its first solar power plant with an installed capacity of 3 MW at a site in southern Bulgaria. Boklag emphasized that the new solar farms will be built on repurposed industrial sites, and the wind farm is planned to be located in northeastern Bulgaria.
