Romania: Delgaz Grid completes Onesti Centru transformer station, enhancing power supply for 31,000 customers

At the end of December 2024, Delgaz Grid successfully completed the construction and commissioning of the Onesti Centru transformer station, following an investment of over 4.6 million euros. This new station will benefit more than 31,000 customers in Onesti and surrounding areas.

The transformer station enhances service quality by improving electricity supply continuity, distribution efficiency, and increasing capacity for new consumers, prosumers, and renewable energy producers. Operating at a 110 kV voltage level, it provides greater reliability to the region’s electricity supply.

Key features of the project include the installation of 1.3 kilometers of 110 kV network with dual circuits, the construction of a new station with two power transformers, and advanced 20 kV energy distribution equipment. To further boost supply security, the Onesti Centru station is also connected to the Onesti 35 transformer station in the municipality. The station is equipped with advanced technologies that allow remote monitoring and control through integration into the SCADA system.

This development is part of a broader initiative co-financed by the Modernization Fund, which also includes upgrades to the Letea transformer station near Bacau. The total investment for the initiative exceeds 20.5 million euros, with around 13.7 million euros provided as non-reimbursable funding from the Modernization Fund and 6.8 million euros contributed by Delgaz Grid.
