Hungary, Day-ahead gas price 116 euros per MWh on Sunday

The weighted average day-ahead gas price on the regional gas market, the Hungarian CEEGEX exchange, for delivery on Sunday, December 18, 2022, was reduced by around 10 euros per MWh compared to the working week, to 116.3 euros per MWh.

Trade volume reached 45,048 MWh on Sunday, according to data from the stock exchange operator. That is more than twice as much as compared to working days, from Monday to Friday.

The average weekly day-ahead gas price is around 123.4 euros per MWh, compared to 126 euros per MWh in the previous week.

In the first 18 days of December, the average weighted price of gas did not fall below the threshold of 116 euros per MWh, while in the previous month, a minimum price of around 97 euros per MWh was recorded.

The average weighted price during the day, for delivery in one-hour intervals, on December 15, when the last transactions on this market were realized, ranged from 123.5 to 125 euros per MWh.

According to the latest available CEEGEX report, for October 2022, European gas prices fell to a four-month low thanks to warm weather, stable supply and low demand, and TTF spot prices were even negative.

The total volume on CCEGEX in October of 2.97 GWh, almost reached last year’s level.

Trading on the spot markets was more profitable than securing the required quantities with long-term contracts, according to a monthly analysis by CEEGEX.
