Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Sweden to Serbia Annika Ben David. They discussed cooperation between the two states in the energy and mining sector.

Minister Mihajlovic pointed out that the country has recently adopted new energy-related laws, that it was preparing a strategy for the development of energy until 2050 and a national climate and energy plan, as the foundation for the establishment of a favorable environment for new investments and the process of decarbonization with the aim of having 40 % of electricity produced from renewable sources by 2040.

Ambassador Annika Ben David pointed out that Sweden strongly supported Serbia on its European integration path and that Swedish companies were interested in investing the mining and energy sector. She said that green transition is very important, adding that there is an interest of Swedish companies in investing in Serbia’s energy sector, especially when it comes to biomass and biogas.
