Romania, Nuclearelectrica and GEN-I concluded another 50 million euros electricity purchase deal

Romanian electricity producer Nuclearelectrica, the operator of nuclear power plant Cernavoda, said that it has signed an electricity purchase agreement with Slovenian trader GEN-I, worth 50.7 million euros.

According to the agreement, Nuclearelectrica will deliver electricity to GEN-I in a period between 1 January and 31 December 2022.

Last December, the two companies signed a similar deal for the delivery of electricity between 1 January and 31 December 2021, worth around 50 million euros.

Nuclearelectrica recorded a net profit in the amount of 78.5 million euros in the first half of 2021, which is by 12.3 % higher compared to the same period last year. The operational result (EBIT) has registered an increase of 17.1 %, while EBITDA recorded an increase of 9.9 % compared to the same period of last year. The rise in operating results follows the increase of operating revenues by 16.9 %, influenced by the increase by 15.7 % of the revenues from the sale of electricity.

The volume of electricity sold on the regulated market in the first six months of the year amounted to 5,292,212 MWh, which is 8.4 % more than planned, but 4.6 % less than the quantity sold in the first half of 2020.
