Slovenia, The country’s energy dependence is deepening

Slovenia’s energy dependence increased by 2 percentage points annually last year, the national statistics institute said.

Domestic energy resources covered 53% of Slovenia’s energy needs in 2021, while the supply of oil products was fully provided from imports, adds Stat.

More than half of the demand is covered by domestic energy sources

The total amount of domestic energy in Slovenia in 2021 amounted to 3.3 million tenge, which is 9% less than in 2020, said Stat.

In 2021, Slovenia met 53% of domestic energy demand with domestic energy, while the rest of the energy was provided from imports. Thus, the entire amount of petroleum products was imported.

The total supply of Slovenia with primary energy in 2021 amounted to 6.4 million tenge, which is 0.2% more than in 2020.

The structure of delivered energy in 2021 is dominated by petroleum products with 31%, followed by nuclear energy with 23%, renewable energy sources (including hydropower) with 19%, coal with 15% and natural gas with 12%, according to the Institute of Statistics. .
