Slovenia: Lower electricity production in April

Due to planned overhaul of nuclear power plant Krsko, Slovenia’s net electricity generation in April 2021 decreased by 33 % compared to the same month last year, according to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia.

In April 2021, total net electricity generation in Slovenia reached 737 GWh, which is 44 % less than in the previous month. At the same time, consumption reached 1,111 GWh, which is a 9 % increase compared to March, while 12 % less electricity was consumed in April 2020. In April, production in thermal power plants increased by 46 % compared to the same month in 2020, production in hydropower plants increased by 10 %, while NPP Krsko was offline due to scheduled overhaul. In April 2021, Slovenia imported 925 GWh (69 % more compared to April 2020) of electricity and exported 521 GWh (- 16 %). Supply of energy commodities in general went down in April, except from the supply of other petroleum products which rose by 29 % and hard coal by 7 %. Compared to the previous month, an increase in supply of lignite and brown coal (17 %) was recorded, as well as coke (13 %), natural gas (13 %), kerosene (11 %), LPG (10 %), petrol (9 %) and diesel (7 %). Compared to April 2020, the supply of diesel increased by 147 %, lignite and brown coal by 53 %, other petroleum products by 51 %, petrol by 44 %, natural gas by 34 %, LPG by 23 % and coke by 18 %.
